Core Description

The role will be responsible for the Internet and Voice (VoIP) services facilitated by our network. Provide direction for the architecture, engineering, design, implementation, operation, maintenance, regulatory compliance, and ongoing reliability of the Traffic Management (Deep Packet Inspection) and Voice platforms. Assist in training the rest of the team members. Be the expert with equipment common to Deep Packet Inspection and IP voice including Active Logic, Maestro Engine, PTS, SPB, SDE, Insights Databases, PBX, SBCs, SIP Proxies and monitoring systems. Collaborate with internal and external audit teams to ensure full compliance with audit requirements, risk management frameworks, and regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities

1. Traffic Management (DPI) & Voice Network Architecture and Engineering
Design, Build, Implement, Analyse and Improve efficiency, scalability, stability, reliability, and performance of the Traffic management (DPI) and Voice infrastructure.
Deep Packet Inspection and Voice network subject matter and policy expert.
Participate in cross-functional product engineering and marketing design forums.
Continuously identify and leverage new technologies or methodologies.

2. Performance, Capacity & Reliability Management
Provide insight to capacity and performance management of existing infrastructure.
Execute changes to provision new services and deployments.
Develop standards, procedures and other documentation required for rollout of new technology.

3. Technical Leadership & Subject Matter Expertise
Provide direction and training for other network engineers.
Assist in complex fault isolation, service recovery and incident analysis.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Vendor Management
Vendor engagement.
Manages the performance of internal and external service providers and/or sub-contractors to ensure the awareness of requirements, adherence to project quality, timely implementation of deliverables and customer.

5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
Staying current with technology changes and the relationships of technology to emerging business requirements.
Ensure the right level on monitoring is implemented and architected into the design.
Continuously seek to improve network uptime via innovation and ensuring the right level of visibility is available on the network.
Take ownership and create new projects or task as required when gaps are identified within the Traffic Management and Voice Network Infrastructure.

    Additional Information

    Certification, qualifications and experience:
    Network Certifications (R&S)
    Packet Analysis Certifications (Wireshark)
    SIP, Linux, MySQL, Vertica 
    General Network Security Certifications with DPI Modules will be advantageous 
    Qualification in computer science and engineering or related field - Degree/ Diploma
    Minimum 5 to 8 years hands-on experience with DPI platforms and Voice network engineering/ design.
    Operation of large-scale, high-availability internet and voice networks. 
    Multi-vendor hardware and software environments (Sandvine/ AppLogic, RedHat, Cisco, NetFlow, Wireshark, SBCs, SIP proxies etc.). 
    Troubleshooting complex networks and applications. 
    Executing best practice concepts including RFC and ISO standards, SLA's, and change management. 
    Network analysis, Linux and Database experience.
