Core Description

Manage the end-to-end Group IT sourcing and procurement lifecycle across assigned sub-categories, applying Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), strategic sourcing methodologies, and governance frameworks to deliver sustainable value, cost optimisation, risk mitigation, and supplier innovation aligned to business objectives. Act as a trusted advisor to IT stakeholders and a key enabler of commercial value through effective sourcing strategies, supplier management, and contract execution.

Job Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
Develop and execute IT sourcing strategies aligned to category plans and business priorities
Apply strategic sourcing methodologies (RFx) to drive competitive outcomes
Analyse spend, demand patterns, and supply markets to identify value opportunities
Drive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) optimisation, not just price reduction
Contribute to category strategy development and continuous improvement

2. Stakeholder Management
Partner with IT business stakeholders to define requirements and sourcing approaches
Act as a commercial advisor to ensure optimal procurement decisions
Align sourcing initiatives with business strategy and operational needs

3. Commercial & Contract Management
Lead negotiations to secure best commercial outcomes (pricing, terms, risk allocation)
Draft, review, and manage contracts in collaboration with Legal and Risk teams
Ensure contracts are actively managed across their lifecycle (renewals, amendments, exits)
Monitor supplier performance against contractual KPIs and SLAs

4. Supplier & Risk Management
Manage supplier relationships across operational and strategic levels
Drive supplier performance, innovation, and transformation (incl. BBBEE objectives)
Identify and mitigate commercial, operational, and compliance risks
Support supplier onboarding, due diligence, and ongoing risk assessments

5. Governance & Compliance
Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies and governance frameworks
Prepare documentation for approval at relevant governance forums
Maintain audit-ready sourcing and contract documentation
Fairness and Transparency - Managing perception of supplier preference

6. Operational Execution
Execute sourcing events, including spot-buys and tactical sourcing, where required
Ensure procurement systems and contract repositories are accurately maintained
Monitor and report on savings, value delivery, and sourcing pipeline

7. Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve sourcing processes and efficiency
Drive digitisation and adoption of e-sourcing tools
Contribute to procurement best practices and knowledge sharing

    Education

    NQF 6: National Diploma/ Advanced Diploma/ Certificate
    OR NQF 4: School leaving qualification: National Certificate (Grade 12)/ National Senior Certificate/ National (vocational) Certificate

    5 Years relevant experience
    OR 7 years experience

    Additional Information

    Certification and experience: 
    Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CIPS) will be advantageous.
    Minimum 5 years sourcing/ procurement experience in a corporate or regulated environment, preferably in IT sourcing.
    Demonstrated experience in managing medium to complex sourcing projects.
    Exposure to IT strategic sourcing, negotiations, and contract management.

    Special requirements:
    Knowledge of ICT and Telecommunications industry.
    Experience in large-scale sourcing projects.
    Understanding of NDP, NIPC, ICT sector guides, and B-BBEE codes.
    Contract management, negotiation, and cost management expertise.
    Strong relationship-building and leadership capability.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    Working knowledge of an e-Procurement/ Sourcing application (e.g. SAP Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer or equivalent).
