Core Description
Responsible for bringing Telkom’s culture to life by ensuring that our values and high-performance ethos are felt and visible across the organisation. This role is also responsible for designing and executing employee engagement initiatives through communication actions, championing an inclusive, connected, and high-performing workplace, and ensuring that culture-building initiatives are meaningful and measurable.
Job Responsibilities
Employee Engagement & Culture Building
- Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives that cultivate a sense of belonging, pride, and high performance across Telkom Group.
- Lead culture campaigns and recognition initiatives that make our values and purpose tangible for all employees.
- Partner with HR and leadership to embed Telkom’s culture into the employee experience, from onboarding to ongoing development.
- Track and analyse engagement and culture metrics, providing actionable insights and recommendations to leadership.
Internal Communications
- Craft and deliver compelling internal communication strategies and content (newsletters, intranet, viva engage, digital screens, town halls) that inform, inspire, and connect Telkom employees.
- Support change management initiatives by ensuring clear, transparent, and empathetic communication during periods of transformation.
External Communications & Brand Management
- Support the Corporate Communications team in reinforcing Telkom’s brand as a purpose-led, inclusive, and innovative employer through external channels.
- Contribute to press releases, media statements, and social media content that showcase Telkom’s culture and people stories.
Content Creation
- Develop engaging written, visual, and multimedia content that highlights employee achievements, diversity, and Telkom’s impact in communities.
- Source and curate authentic stories that reflect the lived experience of working at Telkom.
Crisis & Issues Management
- Support internal communications during crises or sensitive situations, ensuring employees are informed, reassured, and engaged.
- Assist in developing and executing crisis communication plans as needed.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders (HR, business units, leadership, employee networks) and external partners (media, agencies).
- Facilitate two-way dialogue, capturing employee feedback and driving continuous improvement in engagement and culture initiatives.

Qualifications and experience:
- Qualification in Communication, Public Relations, Digital Communication, Journalism, Marketing, or related fields.
- Experience in corporate communications, employee engagement, or culture roles, ideally within a medium to large, complex organisation.
