Core Description

Responsible for the development and implementation of the ITS Infrastructure policies and procedures at national level in Telkom. This includes Management of the ITS Infrastructure section. Responsible for Build and Engineering of Core Internet Network Products and Services. Ensure by design and implementation that existing and new product are architected to enable management of the services by customer experience.  In addition, provide expert knowledge on Traffic Management Capabilities, CPE Management and Voice architecture to ensure adherence to the agreed architectural principles. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for architecture and the architectural evolution of the DPI & Traffic Management environment based on a clearly defined set of architectural principles. As a result, need to ensure we have a technically justifiable objective picture of the As-is and the To-be architecture.
  • Drive architectural road map for the DPI infrastructure & Traffic Management environment.
  • Provide peer review of design and architectural principal documentation.
  • Perform training and mentoring of other service team members.
  • Develop, manage, and prepare the service management Standards & Practices for the team.
  • Manages the performance of internal and external service providers and/ or sub-contractors to ensure the awareness of requirements, adherence to project quality, timely implementation of deliverables.
  • Provide insight to capacity and performance management of existing infrastructure.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of projects needed to expand the current capacity of services we provide.

Additional Information

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification (NQF level 6). (IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering) or National Diploma (IT, Engineering) or Diploma (IT, Computer Science, Engineering)
  • At least 5 years of Network Traffic Management & Service & Infrastructure Support experience of which 2 years on management level including SLA & Broadband ISP systems management

Special Requirements:

  • Experience managing Network Traffic Management Technologies.
  • Strong understanding of Broadband & Mobile Internet products Strong Understanding of Broadband CPE functionalities.
  • Strong understanding of Linus system administration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to customers, executives and non-technical leaders.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. Ability to explore alternative processes, methods and tackle each situation on its own merit.
